When is National Ice Cream Day 2024?

Sunday, July 21 is National Ice Cream Day. The celebration is always on the third Sunday in July, which is also National Ice Cream Month. Both were signed into law by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Obviously, ice cream existed long before that, with some of the earliest records of milk-based frozen desserts dating back to the Tang Dynasty in seventh-century China.

Dairy Queen: Free Dilly Bar

National Ice Cream Day just wouldn't be the same if the Queen didn't celebrate. On Sunday only, customers who use the DQ Texas app can get a free Dilly Bar with any purchase.

McDonalds: Cookies & CrèmePie and Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry

During National Ice Cream Month, the Golden Arches are bringing back the Cookies and Crème Pie dessert for a limited time in select markets. The fan-favorite features a chocolate cookie crumb crust and a fluffy vanilla crème filling.

McDonald's has also launched a whole new dessert that combines two tasty treats. The Kit Kat Banana Split McFlurry has all the flavors of the Kit Kat McFlurry and the Banana Split McFluffy wrapped into one sweet summer item.

Dippin' Dots: Free mini cup

For a limited time Sunday, July 21, participating Dippin' Dots locations will give out free mini cups of Dippin' Dots Ice Cream. The offer is only available during a two-hour window that varies by store, so be sure to check out the store locator for more details.

Talenti: Case of the Mondaes

Rather than offering Sunday sundaes, gelato and sorbetto brand Talenti is making Mondays a bit sweeter with a "Case of the Mondaes" kit. The kit includes strawberry sorbetto, De Soi Très Rosé Sparkling Non-Alcoholic Aperitif, freeze-dried strawberry slices, white chocolate shavings, and freeze-dried edible flowers.

The "Case of the Mondaes" kit became available in Dallas via DoorDash Monday, July 15. However, kits will become available for free Saturday, July 20 through Monday, July 22 while supplies last.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams: Flavor discounts

Five limited-time flavors will be discounted at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams from Saturday, July 20 through Friday, August 2. Priced at $8 a pint while supplies last, customers can enjoyNebula Berry, Cosmic Bloom, Purple Star Born, Supermoon and Fluffernutter Pie.

Jeni's Splendid Rewards members will have access to the deals a day early on Friday, July 19.

Van Leeuwen: Hello Kitty ice cream flavor

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is partnering with Sanrio, a lifestyle brand known for Hello Kitty, to create a new flavor in honor of Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary. The Yummy Berry White Chocolate Truffle Ice Cream is reminiscent of the cartoon's iconic hair bow, and will only be available Sunday, July 21.

Half of all profits from the special flavor will be donated to charitable organizations, according to Van Leeuwen.
