Just like we have hair on our body, having butt hair is a completely normal part of life. Just because everyone you know may have decided to hop on the bandwagon of going hair-free when it comes to butt, it doesn’t mean that butt hair is bad. Some people like to have it completely clear down there. Some don’t mind the fuzz either between the butt cheeks or around the anus. However, if you wish to groom yourself and know how to remove your butt hair, here’s an easy guide for you!

How to get rid of butt hair?

Butt hair is a common and normal thing for most people. It doesn’t serve a clear purpose, so getting rid of it usually is not a big deal. There are various ways to remove butt hair, shares cosmetologist and trichologist Dr Meera Adhikari.

1. Shaving

A bikini shaver is the best way to go. One could use a razor, but be sure that the blade is sharp and sterile. Now we know you may wonder how would you shave your butt yourself. The trick lies in propping on leg up, using one hand to pull the two buttocks apart and hold the skin tight while you use slow, small and steady shaving strokes. Applying aloe vera after hair removal can help prevent bumps, soothe the skin and control irritation.

2. Waxing

The method of waxing involves pulling the hair out by the roots. This allows you to remain hairless for quite a long period, usually about two to four weeks. Waxing also removes any form of tan that is there. Home waxing can be tricky, especially if you’re doing it for the first time, in which case you should leave it to a professional.

3. Hair removal creams

While hair removal creams promise to be the easiest hair removal method for the most difficult regions to reach, Dr Adhikari says it’s best to exercise caution. “Hair removal creams are generally not recommended for use in such regions because of the risk of burns or a severe allergic reaction. Always conduct a patch test first before applying hair removal creams,” she adds.

4. Trimming

Bikini trimmers are handy if you would like to trim your hair short and avoid the risk of nicks and irritation. Trim your butt hair using an electric clipper, as they are a safe way to shave your lower area.

5. Using an epilator

Epilators are small electric devices that pull out many different hair at once as you use it over your skin. It is essentially a bunch of mini tweezers removing your hair mechanically.

Permanent options for butt hair removal

Out of all the methods, one of the most effective, safe, and easy way to remove butt hair is through Laser Hair Reduction (LHR). Butt hair does not tend to grow as fast as hair in other areas, so LHR can be considered as a viable option. Unlike other methods, LHR does not have too many risks as long as it is done by a trusted professional.

“Laser hair reduction works by targeting the hair follicles using a laser beam. This process damages the hair and prevents any future hair growth. It is a relatively painless process and doesn’t have any side effects. Plus, since it is permanent, you do not have to worry about dealing with butt hair again in the near future,” adds Dr Adhikari.

Grooming tips for butt hair removal

Deciding to get rid of your butt hair should be a personal preference. However, if you are in a dilemma about whether to go bare back there or not, then you can always opt for some light grooming.
